Playing Catch Up from Xanga, Originally dated April 22, 2010

New York Trip, Day two.

After a few hours of sleep (six tops) we hopped out of bed to get some breakfast on our second full day in the city. I loved staying right in Times Square, everything was at your fingertips. We found a joint beside the hotel called CARVE. They had a breakfast special of an amazing Egg/Cheese/Bacon on this HUGE Ciabatta bun, with small coffee for $3. We had breakfast there the next two mornings, and on the second day they already remembered us and just looked and said HEY- The Usual? I was giddy... i am having my 'usual' in NOO YAWK CITY :)

After more walking and exploring (Barbie's Dream house in Toys R Us) we met up with 2 more friends who drove into the city that morning. Ate an amazing lunch at Wichcraft. Bili and I shared a Chickpea/olive spread with Red Pepper on tasty bread.

Then it was time for the Tim Burton installation at the MOMA. Since all time slots were sold to capacity you were guaranteed a crowded room that you had to fight to see the art. So that sucked balls. I Did see a lot of Tim's sketches and artwork (Honestly, Bili is just as good if not better...But some artists are in the right place at the right time with the right marketing... we aren't...YET!). Among other things i saw Large Marge's Eyes (Pee-Wee's Big Adventure) Edward Scissorhands Costume (Johnny Depp must not be very tall), and all of Jack Skellingtons Heads (Which i pointed out the fingerprints in the molds of his heads to Bili... if the pro's cant get those fingerprints out, then We shouldn't feel so bad when Bilis sculptures have fingerprints in them lol).

Over all im glad we saw it. We Love Burton so much and when this show was installed last winter our room mate at the time went to the opening and met Tim Burton in Person and bought the book of the show and got it autographed for us. So we rounded out the awesomeness by seeing the tail end of the show.

We explored for a few more hours and found ourselves at Magnolias Cupcakes. I bypassed the infamous cupcakes for the ever-so-orgasmic Pumpkin Pecan Cheesecake and Key Lime Cheesecake. If i close my eyes really tight and concentrate i can almost taste it again.

After that sugary pick-me-up we took the subway to Chinatown. Enjoyed the sites and sounds and set out to fulfill Bili's necessary Chinatown moment... noodles on the street. We found a place (Hong Kong Station) that sold him rice noodles with veggies, broth, and squid for $4. It was enough for us both to enjoy. And SO GOOD.

Saturday night we had 2 tickets for SNL Pretaping and 2 tickets for SNL Live Taping. Our friends were tired from travel so they took the pre-taping tickets and we got to see the show live. So we dropped them off and walked around for 3 hours... checking out Grand central Station (Beyond amazing... breathtaking... so beautiful). Then I video taped the boys running down the front stairs of the NYC Public Library screaming like that scene in Ghostbusters... lol. It was their Geek Moment. If you dont count the 5 Apple Stores we visited that weekend... the Ipad is cool and all, but i was tired of it after the first 3 Apple Stores.

Then it was our turn to go in for SNL. While waiting to be seated I saw Breckin Meyers walk in ahead of us. He was a total ass. I mean, he is in a few movies- clueless/roadtrip/some robot chicken voice overs. And is a recognizable celebrity. But after sitting close to him, riding the elevator with him and his entourage, and walking out the door and a full city block with him... i can now tell you all that Breckin Meyers is a HUGE asshole. He just sneered at anyone who wanted his autograph and wasnt approachable at all. His entourage was way nicer though lol.

Oh and it was cool seeing the behind the scenes of a live show... Jimmy Fallons is live to tape, so it still gets edited... and he did make some mistakes that you wont see but WE KNOW lol. SNL was fast paced... and i wont lie- i had a total she-boner for Ryan Phillipe. Boy has it GOING ON.
And Ke$ha (Did you ever think that maybe WE are the Aliens?) was SO ANNOYING. You can tell she is a total self indulged brat... and this is coming from a girl who thought Paris Hilton would be decent to meet in person... but Ke$ha ... damn... as much as i like Tick Tock, i wont mind when she fades away.

After that show Bili and i had a rare moment alone strolling back to our hotel under the bright city lights. It was really romantic as the city wasnt very crowded at 2am and we were even offered Obama Condoms (For Hard Times!) outside the strip club. lol.

That concludes day two of our four day trip to the Big Apple.
