Playing Catch Up from Xanga, Originally dated April 22, 2010

Our New York Trip, Part one.

Let me start by saying i am NOT a city girl. So its been a long time coming for Bili, My City Loving Husband, to get my ass to New York. So we planned the trip around going to see the Tim Burton Exhibit at the Moma which will be installed until the end of this month. That ended up being secondary in all the great things that happened over the weekend.

So we wake up friday morning at the great hour of 4am and head to the airport. Not long after we were landing at LaGuardia Airport and ready to hit the city. We grabbed a cab and spent $40 to get to our hotel... on the way home we spent the same amount of time on the subway/bus and spent $5...thats FIVE dollars total for Bili and i to get BACK to LaGuardia from Manhattan. Now we know. :)

Hotel Lobby was Art Deco like WHOA!

We must have had the biggest hotel room in Times Square... and at $188 a night... nice.

Spent the first morning checking out Times Square (You could see it out of our hotel room window -Edison Hotel on 47th and Broadway)... we walked around and went to FAO Schwartz to make our whatnot. We named him Edison Rockefeller ... but you can call him Eddie Rock. He is on a bowling league :)

While walking around 30 Rock we saw Jimmy Fallon being interviewed by Diggnation... so that was kinda cool. Especially since we were coming back later that night to watch Late Night with Jimmy Fallon.

Oh this is funny... so around my small town if a car horn beeps while your outside...9/10 its someone you know beeping AT YOU. I couldnt get used to all the beeping in the city, i kept looking up to see if i knew someone.
But i was amazing at the fast paced, rudeness that is required to make it there. I even yelled at a car that got in the way while we were crossing the street. Oh and my thighs look amazing after all the walking. I love that to a New Yorker 'just around the corner' usually means 6-10 blocks away.

So Friday night we headed back to 30 Rock to watch Late Night with Jimmy Fallon. The comedian that came out to warm up the crowd was awesome...even picked on us a little. Then the ROOTS, THEE ROOTS, Jimmys houseband came out to play a little before the show and the guitarist with the funny triangle hair cut came over by us and played.
Then Jimmy came out and interviewed Diggnation and Tracy Morgan. It was hilarious. I taped it and can hear my loud mouth just LAUGHING away.
Then the Flaming Lips played their cover of Pink FLoyd's Breathe. I was in HEAVEN. Wow. WOW. After that amazingness was over, Jimmy came through the crowd and i got a hug and we headed out of the studio. Which isnt very big btw, MUCH smaller then depicted on television.

We came out the doors and were standing on the sidewalk making some calls to see who wanted to hang out and at what bar...and i noticed some black town cars parked there. I told the boys, hold up- someone important is coming out. Lo and Behold here comes the Flaming Lips. Lead Singer Wayne Coyne looked right at us and smiled and we walked over to get a picture and chat. You can see in the pic that Bili was about to put his business card RIGHT into Wayne's pocket, but decided he was so nice he would just hand it to him and tell him what an inspiration his music is on his art. Which is true, i hear 'Yoshimi Battles the Pink Robots' playing while Bili paints all the time! lol. So that was our AMAZING Celeb Moment. Wayne was SO nice.
